Our story
The Christian Science Society of Kampala is a local branch church for the practice and study of Christian Science in Uganda. We are part of a worldwide movement of Christian Scientists, all pointing back to The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts — known as the Mother Church.
Our church supports a community of people who want to understand more about God and practical Christianity. There is something inherently comforting about gathering with others searching for the same answers you are. Church — and Sunday School for children and teens — provides space for that gathering and supportive learning.
Christian Science teaches that Christ Jesus' healing works were not theoretical, but practical, complete, and repeatable. Members and visitors alike are welcome to explore this practice for themselves, at their own pace, in their own time.
Leadership
Like all Christian Science branch churches, the Society is governed democratically by its members, with a rotating Church Board and elected First and Second Readers who conduct services by reading directly from the Bible and Science and Health — without personal sermons or commentary.
READERS
First and Second Readers conduct Sunday services and Wednesday testimony meetings, serving fixed terms.
CHURCH BOARD
Elected members oversee finances, membership, and the day-to-day affairs of the Society.
